Throwing Shadows at the Sun

  1. Not Yet

Lyrics

I just jumped the train to Presumption.
I’d hoped I’d never make it back to that town.
Maybe I can sleep right through that junction,
But who can sleep through the whistle sound?
This old boxcar was built in Missouri,
And I’m from farther down the river a bit.
It has made that trip once on a rusty barge,
And the years have had their hold on it.

I thought I had the answers and that everything was set
Until I heard that voice saying, “No, not yet.”
There’s only one thing you can count on
One day you’ll return to dust.
You try so hard to earn a living,
But only some will learn to trust.
I thought I had assurance on which to place my bets
But now I lay down all my money on…no, not yet.

It hasn’t been long
Since I walked the streets of Presumption.
Of everything I was so sure.
Pretty soon I saw it was deception,
And I just couldn’t take it anymore.
A few cars up there are passengers with tickets.
They all can not wait to arrive.
Some will spend their whole lives in presumption,
And the most they will get there is just get by.

Clickety Clickety Clack! Stop this train I want to go back.
Clackety Clackety Click! My life is moving on so quick.
Clickety Clickety Clack! Stop this train I’m changing tracks.

All I can hope for is that I’m not sure where I’m going.
Lead me Kindly Light where you’ve always led.
Maybe I’ve just jumped the train to Conclusions
And I’m going somewhere different instead.
